There are a variety of dining options in Playa Venao, with several restaurants run by nearby hotels as well as Eco Venao’s featured restaurant Los Naufragos offering farm to table cuisine and featuring local cheese, freshly caught fish, local beef, homemade sea salt, and local fruits and vegetables. El Sitio Village, also known for its iconic lighthouse, features a great family friendly boho-chic style restaurant and beach bar. Eco Venao also operates La Barca beach bar, where you can order a cold beer or fresh cocktail while watching the sun set over the Pacific as you relax with your feet in the sand. You can also quench your after surf cravings with a cold locally produced ice cream from the Bonjour stand right on the beach.

LODGING
If you’re a fishing enthusiast, Playa Venao is located in the heart of what is widely known as the Tuna Coast, featuring an abundance of Yellowfin tuna, Bigeye tuna, Wahoo, Dorado, Mackerel, Snapper, Amberjack, and Roosterfish, among others. The nearby Islas Frailes just 3 nautical miles off the beach are an amazing spot to catch any of the above. The west side of Playa Venao is the best spot to be picked up by your captain, but there are also two different boat ramps only 10 minutes from Venao, one in Ciruelo and the other one in Cañas also featuring boat sheds. The area abounds with birds such as Kingfisher, woodpecker, egret and toucan. Among the fauna in Los Balsos Reserve are wild deer, howler monkeys and white-faced capuchin monkeys. Humpback whales visit the area each year, and can be seen from the shore, as well as occasional bioluminescence in the water as the waves crash. It’s truly an area that is full of life and wonder year-round.
